The No-Flag Challenge
One great idea for a feature would be the "no-flag challenge" - here you would need to solve the boards without using any flags - I've done this a few times, it adds a new feel to the game - this would be interesting as a feature where local and world records could be kept.

One problem with adding new features like this, and other features that customise the game-play, is whether I would also then have to support local/world records for them, and for all combinations of them. It gets kind of unweildy, but then it's a shame to let that limit what features can be added.
