Re: suggestions for improvement

thanks for your reply.

bit puzzelled by your remark

(1) You can use Stella's "Morph Duals by Truncation" view, adjust to the truncation you want, then use the left-and-down arrow button at the top of that view to make it the new base model.

how does "make it the new base model" work ( sorry just ...

suggestions for improvement

been collecting some ideas for improving stella lately.

some suggestions

1) truncation , i could not find a way to truncate a polyhedron. (or did i overlook an optiom.... again)

2) same for the other "conway transformations": rectification, birectification.
and all the others.

3) Moravian ...

Re: edge stellation

Beginners in polyhedra usually think stellation means augmentation, ie just adding spikes to faces.

Edge stellation would not always lead to spiky things. The great dodecahedron would be an edge stellation of the icosahedron. It has the same edges.

It doesn't appear that Kepler used the term ...

Re: does stella do primary stellations correctly?

Thanks for that but then my suggestion would still be that in primary stellation fhen you click one region the whole primary region in which it lays is affected (the primary regions can contain many elementary region)
Still puzzling about what i found but thats for later.

Re: edge stellation

Sorry cannot give examples , edge stellation is fundamentally different from face stellation / greatening.
The vertices in edge stellations of a polyhedron are a subset of the vertices in face stellations of the same polyhedron so i agree that there are likely less edge stellations than face ...

does stella do primary stellations correctly?

I was puzzling with primary stellations and am wondering if stella is implementing them correctly.

as i understand primary stellations: (and i maybe wrong here)

- you would just start with an ordinary (lets call it full) stellation diagram:
The stellation diagram is a two-dimensional diagram ...

Re: edge stellation

Edge stellation differs from face stellation that edge stellation doesn't create new edges (it can only lengthen them) but can create new faces (also faces not on the boundary planes)

Face stellation works the other way around, face stellation doesn't create faces outside the boundary plane but can ...

Re: edge stellation

when playing with vZome ( a polyhedron app based on zometool https://www.vzome.com , online https://www.vzome.com/app/ )

you have tools like construct line- line intersection that constructs an vertex where the lines intersect.

In stella that would be like creating a vertex

also you have tools ...

edge stellation

i would like to have an option to make edge stellations of an polyhedron

that would include

- extend all (or some selection of) edges (don't think stella has an option for this. please tell me i am wrong)
- place marks/ balls where at least 3 extended edges intersect.

- allow user to add ...

Re: Millers rules (again)

O was referring to a particular stellation
The one for (* the dual of 6.3.3
6 layers

9 (7, 2) cells
3
21 (17, 4) mainline
188 (52, 136) miller
Icosahedra.

Just within a reasonable amount.

And the lowest one with 2 chiral cells.

Re: Millers rules (again)

I was more refering to a possible situation . Not to any really allready found situation
(although I think it does occur in the stellation of the Triakistetrahedron ( * 6 6 3)

(option request for stella - list of the stellations, stella now only gives the count while i would need the data, or ...

Re: Millers rules (again)

When in a cell diagram there are two independent pairs of enantiomorphous cells (so any combination can be added)
There are 9 combinations to consider.

So for example we have an polyhedron B and we have the cells c1L, c1R, c2Land c2R (and maybe other c cells) that could be added we should concider ...

Re: Millers rules (again)

The 59 icosahedra should be just a first introduction but slowly is it became the final reference for stellations.

I think one of the big problems the authors faced was;
What about the hollow polyhedra?

I think they (duVal?) just decided all single celltype polyhedra are valid polyhedra (so e1 ...

Millers rules (again)

I was reading

https://www.software3d.com/Millers5th.php

and I do disagree , because it does overlook at least one pair of enantiomorphous polyhedra.

I don't really know how to interpret the lines in the diagram. so maybe I am mistaken.

I see A, BL,BR CL and CR as independent parts. that all ...

Make polyhedron with M+

But i would like to have something similar in stella.

That you can make a polyhedron and then have an ...
