Re: Synchronizing Rotations

Thank you. I missed seeing that in the documentation.

Synchronizing Rotations

In constructing stellations with Great Stella, especially those with pieces joined only at their vertices, I sometimes find it convenient to compare the Stellation view on the left with its Folding Net view on the right. Is there a way to synchronize the rotations of the former with those of the ...

Re: Extra parts for the compound of five squares

One more question if you don't mind. How did you produce the net in your post? When I pull up W102 in Great Stella, it produces this figure and net:

I can use this of course, but ...

Re: Extra parts for the compound of five squares

Thank you, Robert.
You're absolutely right. I should have said cubes instead of squares. That will teach me to violate my rule of never posting anything after dinner.
I'll give your suggestions a try ASAP. I particularly like the first one. I would never have thought of that approach and it shows ...

Extra parts for the compound of five squares

I have the feeling the I'm asking a stupid question, but here goes.
I'm making a compound of five squares and am following the suggestions in the gallery. I've made the twelve components of that figure without difficulty, but am struggling to understand how to make the star-shaped extra parts that ...

Stepping through stellations

It's easy enough to step through the stellations of a base figure one at a time in Great Stella, but is it possible to move through them more quickly? For example, is it possible to jump ahead in the succession of stellations 20 or 30 or more? Or to go straight to the the 80th one? For figures with ...

Mimicking the Wenninger Color Combinations with Great Stella

I've only made 12 polyhedra so far, all of them using the directions in Polyhedron Models. I've decided that I like his coloring choices. Maybe I'm just missing something obvious, but the color patterns that I've been able to get in Great Stella seem to emulate Wenninger's. Is there some simple way ...

Possible Wenninger Erratum

I just completed a model of the great icosahedron using the directions in Polyhedron Models. There appears to be a mistake in line (2) of the color table. It reads
OY BO GB R B YR
when it should read
OY BO GB R G YR.
The only copy of the book that I have is a first paperback edition, so I don't ...

Re: Circumradii

Thanks so much for this information, Robert. I’m afraid I have a lot of egg on my face with this one.
I’ve made two of each of my polyhedra, one for myself and one for my granddaughter, age two. She is fascinated by them and has them hanging from the ceiling in her bedroom. (She refers to all six ...

Circumradii

I'm rather new to polyhedron construction and have only made five of the basic stellations. Because of space considerations here at home, I've made all of them with the same circumradius, 34.5 cm. I made the calculations for the nets by hand, and the results have been just what I wanted. Now that I ...
