My daughter found a picture of Magnus Wenninger and his model of this polhedron on the internet. I thought I'd have a go, and here's the result:
The photo was taken looking down on one of the larger spikes; you can see the five little pyramids surrounding it. In fact, these small pyramids are the vertices of a compound of five tetrahedra (one of my favourites). The large spikes in isolation form another stellation of the isocahedron (the 9th, I think).
Its quite easy to make this, once you've generated the nets using Stella.
So what have you all been up to recently ? Not wasting your time watching telly, I hope !
