Re: Better rendering of infinite duals
Well, bizarrely, minutes after I posted this, I interacted with Skilling's Figure's dual for a few seconds and then it changed, and all the uniform infinite duals are properly far-extended now. I've never seen that before.

Better rendering of infinite duals
Here are two issues with how the duals of hemipolyhedra look in Stella: 1) They are usually cut off after a very short distance, often failing to show how the polyhedron would look in reality where it extends out further. I would recommend and an option to change how far out it extends, and maybe ev...

Re: More correspondence between faceting and stellation criteria options
You can already interact with the stellation diagram and the cell diagram. Watch the bottom right corner for tips about what the mouse can do, and hold down Shift or Ctrl to see how they change. https://i.postimg.cc/KY7b8SRC/image.png I didn't know about any of this, this is great! You can even use...

Re: More correspondence between faceting and stellation criteria options
Since it wouldn't tie into the current stellation process, it may mean that the Stellation Face, Stellation Diagram, and Cell Diagram views wouldn't work. Some faceting criteria are still asymmetric though, eg "Tidy Facetings", but we could just leave those out as stellation criteria, just adding "...

More correspondence between faceting and stellation criteria options
Since stellation and faceting are dual processes of each other, it makes sense that if a faceting criteria is available, its dual stellation criteria should also be available. The biggest issue is that the stellation options don't produce stellations with internal structure - they just create the ou...

Re: Two new noble polyhedra - a new source of convex hulls to search from?
So I've done this with almost every uniform polyhedron and compound, and haven't found any new nobles - though I found the first noble again from quit gissid and giid, and found the second noble from sidditdid and tid. I did find several isohedral polyhedra with isogonal faces though, especially thi...
Re: Heptagons
I had "triangulate faces" checked when creating those .off files so I think it didn't work (for stella at least) Here are functional .off files, includes some more ones from the snub cube; but not all of them. https://1drv.ms/u/s!AgVMslM5Ti8XknKOu0_xmw4WNnRf?e=ohrA36 From doing these "spikey facetin...

Re: Two new noble polyhedra - a new source of convex hulls to search from?
I think that .off file maybe doesn't work, but here's a list of working .off files for all 48 known (afaik) nobles with greater than dihedral symmetry that are not just regular or compounds

Two new noble polyhedra - a new source of convex hulls to search from?
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AgVMslM5Ti8XkjGq79bukv_PTSAj?e=p4mPy6 .stel and .off file By taking uniform polyhedron duals, and isohedrally faceting them, and then taking the duals of those, you get isogonal polyhedra that are stellations of the original uniform polyhedra. Some of these stellations have the s...
Re: Heptagons
If you tidy-facet the 24-vert Archimedean solids, with the "Must Be Spikey" requirement checked in the faceting menu, some of the closer-to-the-end results have duals made of isohedral heptagrams, classically starry-looking. Since I don't have any PC with Windows (I use Linux at work and at home. a...

Re: A list of every* isohedral triacontahedron, plus every* rigidly isohedral polyhedron, and a list of nobles
edit on icosahedron/rhomb-triacontahedron noble stellations: If they have 60 vertices, 60-vert polyhedra are flexibly isogonal, so that would seem to mean these stellations are flexibly isogonal and rigidly isohedral, except 20/30 faced polyhedra can't be distorted while retaining icosahedral symmet...

What are your favorite polyhedra?
My #1 is the octahedron (perfect) Some of my favorites are the great rhombicuboctahedron and great deltoidal icositetrahedron (very deep and very spikey, well proportioned) The pentagonal hexecontahedron (pretty) The dual of the final icosahedron stellation (DEEP) And the compound of 5 great dodecah...

Re: A list of every* isohedral triacontahedron, plus every* rigidly isohedral polyhedron, and a list of nobles
Two new uploads: This is a list of every isohedral polyhedron and compound that loses T/O/I symmetry and/or loses isohedrality when distorted. It includes all the ones with non-compound faces, plus a couple with compound faces that still lose symmetry when distorted. It includes three new models: 1)...
