Does any member of the forum know of a software that I can use to investigate a helix?

The two following photographs show the method of construction for the torus. Segments are assembled to form the ten sided section of rod. These were turned on a lathe to produce the shape as shown below. http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh225/Squeaky2011/IMG_0023-1.jpg When several of these assemb...

Hi Oxenholme,

I wonder .... do you still have copies of your drawings for the net for the four tetrahedra?

Would you share them with the rest of the forum?

I would love to make this model some time in the future.

What is it?

Hi Oxenholme, What is the name of this particular model? http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh225/Squeaky2011/Whatisit.jpg I once attempted to make five interlocked tetrahedrons and most of it ended up in the scrap box. This model of yours look suspiciously like the one I failed at ... Where did you...

Image Sizes

Thanks for the information.

I use Photoshop CS2 which I find excellent. It is quite a complicated programme but more or less a 'standard' in the photographic world.
I am now reducing the image sizes prior to sending to 'Photobucket'.

My first venture

Hi Oxenholme, Not too distant from North Derbyshire. I love the look of your models. I really stumbled into polyhedra and since that time I have become very interested in the subject. My wife tells me that I do not have 'normal' hobbies but obsessions. I do a lot of photography and took a series of ...

My Next Project

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh225/Squeaky2011/Torus02.jpg I wish to construct a model similar to this ... but twisted into a sort of figure of eight. Similar to the image of a rubber 'O' ring http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh225/Squeaky2011/TwistedORing.jpg What I really need, before I c...

Woods

Hi Brendan, I nearly always use hardwoods ... hardy ever used plastics except one time I covered a 'stellation' with mirror coated acrillic. When I sort out 'photobucket' I will send a picture of this particular model to the forum. One very good source of hardwood is to buy a single pack of hardwood...

Just what I need

Wonderful! Exactly what I need! Obviously, I can now translate this to my specific needs. This forum is great .... quite a revelation for me personally .... there are actually people out in the big world with similar interests to me. My personal skills are sorting out the 'nuts and bolts' of making ...

Photograph of required base

http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd237/RobertCWebb/WithBase.jpg Just to give you a better idea of what I need! The model photographed, above, is just placed, on the base section, for the purpose of this photograph ..... nothing is fixed at the moment. I need to very tastefully add (about 25mm) to...

Mitre Angles

Hi Brendan, Making models of polyhedron, from wood, is not really too difficult provided you are fairly precise with measurments of the component faces and set your bandsaw (cutting the mitres) as accurately as possible. I use a digital angle gauge that I obtained via e-bay. The resolution of this i...
