Book on Stella
Thank you for your kind reply. I have now sucessfully downloaded the web pages. Yes, I appreciate your comments about the steep learning curve in wishing to design my own shapes. However, the shape of the London Gherkin is what I would like for my next model building project. Ulrich has helped me co...

London Gherkin
Thanks Ulrich, One of my other problems is that now I am retired I do not seem to have enough time to do everything that I wish to do ... I will be away from my computer for the next two to three weeks ... then ... on my return I wish to really get to grips with the designs for the London Gherkin. R...

Book on Stella
Hi Everybody, I am finding great difficulty in actually using Stella to build my own shapes. Ulrich has been very kindly helping me create a model of the London Gherkin but my lack of basic knowledge of what can be done with this software is really hampering me. Even with Ulrich's kind help I am jus...

That is absolutely wonderful Ulrich! My problem is that I am not very familiar with the Stella software.... I like to use the software to give me the 'mitre angles' and 'edge lengths' but really my skill is more in the direction of making the precision wood parts needed to assemble these different s...

London Gherkin
Thanks Ulrich, You really have encouraged me! I am a retired engineer and love creating models from exocitic woods. I have 'posted' one or two of my models, on this forum, earlier this year. However, I have to admit my rather limited knowledge of this type of geometry. O.K...... I have made a 18 fol...

Printing Nets
Thanks Ulrich! It shows that it does pay to really read what is available from the various menus. Anyway problem well solved .... If I was at all sensitive ... I should hang my head in shame... But not much chance of that! This quick exchange also demonstrates the value of the forum. Thanks once aga...

Printing Nets
I wish to print copies of 'nets' together with selected 'edge data'. How do I do this? I wish to print out the edge lengths and mitre angles for all the six types of triangles in a geodesic sphere ... in particular the following sphere http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh225/Squeaky2011/GeodesicSph...

Four Twisted Semicircular Rings
I have just produced a quick 'mock-up' of the sort of thing that I wish to build. I turned two wood rings, then sawed each into two. and glued the four together with a slight twist to each component. With a bit of luck I should be able to develop this into the sort of thing that I want. http://i257....

Thanks for the information ... food for thought! I had wondered about the angle generating an elipital shape but thought that because I am only wishing to rotate a few degrees then a little judicious sanding may be all that is required to blend. I am doing trials with some Teak ... will post a few p...
