This article might give you some ideas: http://www.software3d.com/TuteSpherical.php

It's not about using wood, but could be helpful.

You can also go to the unfolded net view or the 3D folding ne ...

Someone recently asked me how to design the following as a 3D model in Stella. I'm posting the answer here so more people can benefit from it.

Hi Rosemary,

Looks nice! Glad you figured out how to do what you wanted. Stella is not a general purpose 3D modelling package, as you've discovered, focusing more on polyhedral operations, but wi ...

Good point! I wasn't sure what was meant by changing only part of a face, but this makes more sense. It's about intersecting faces where different parts are showing.

You have to change the colour of at least one whole face at a time. What are you imagining otherwise?

One thing you could do is use "Poly->Subdivide Faces" to break faces into smaller ...

Oh OK, I see what you mean. I haven't seen that investigated before. For the dodecahedron I think you're right that there's 4: the original dod, one with 5-fold dihedral symmetry, and two with 3-fol ...

Not sure what you mean by "convex". None of the stellations are convex other than the original core.

People are certainly interested in isohedra, and even more in isogonal isohedra (aka ...

Yes, the net is complete, but Stella is showing the outer parts with the inner colour. Currently it tends to do this when multiple parts of different colours lie in a single plane, the nets show them ...

I don't think Measurement Mode is supported in the net view (you're just selecting an edge, but not measuring a distance). Just measure the same thing in the base or stellation views. Don't select t ...
